What is Graphic Design?
According to AIGA - American Institute of Graphic Arts - Graphic Design is a creative process that combines art and technology to communicate ideas. From that definition we can say that graphic design involves 3 concepts: the first one is creativity, the second one is art, and the last one is technology.
From another point of view, AIGA also pointed that Graphic design is the combination of shapes, colors, typefaces, images and words that cause you to react or feel something. In short, one of Graphic Design objective is to get people (or we may say viewers) attention and to deliver message through its work and finaly to make people react to whatever the message is.
So, who work behind the creation? The people behind every successful graphic art is called Graphic Designers.

What they do is creating stunning graphic arts to catch people attention. Contrary to what may many people think that they have limited work space, they actually work in a very varied type of business. They don't only work in a design firm or advertising agency, but they also needed in government, private companies, public company, and so on. It is a very promising career path and also it could create many business opportunities.
At practice, Graphic Designer deals with image and typography. They put their creativity to create design art either solely by image-based design or type-based design, they also combine both image and and type together. Another specialty is they also create symbols, logos, and logotypes.
Graphic Designer can work in: Production House, Advertising Industry, Publishing Industry, Online Media, Broadcasting Company, Movie Production, and others. Graphic Designer can also build own business or take a projects and freelance jobs that offered by clients.
How to be a Graphic Designer?
There are many Graphic Design Schools and Courses that you can attend if you want to be a serious and successful Graphic Designer. But other than schools, one could also learn graphic design by themself by books, internet, or direct practices. As it was said earlier, that Graphic Design also involved technology. One can learn to use the technology tools, such as pc or mac, and softwares or hardwares that specialized made to support graphic designers.
